Influenster | Origins #MyPerfectWorld VoxBox

(Origins @ Disney Springs)

I know I remember saying that I was going to make a video about this event but I'm not going to that length. I don't have a clue why I'm not feeling like doing YouTube videos anymore but I have the time to blog about the experience I had at the Origins "My Perfect World" event at Disney Springs here in Orlando, FL. First of all Origins is a
cosmetics line that came about in the 90's! It was founded by the son of Estee Lauder. Powered by nature, this company provides all things skin care, along with teas and also make up!

I was invited by +Influenster to attend this event for a new line of products that Origins is promoting. I was also given a voxbox to test out products for free, compliments of Influenster. I tried out a couple before the event and others during the event.

A couple of products in the voxbox that I tried were great, the Active Charcoal Mask was my favorite (pictured above in the clear tube). I actually thought it was the mask that you could peel off but it turned out to be a clay mask. It works just as well to clean my face and make it feel refreshed. The line of GinZing products smell amazing, reminds me of a ginger/tea kind of scent! After testing these products out I knew I'd have to go to the event to see how much the items were and kind of take advantage of what they had to offer.

So let's get into the event. Before attending, Influenster sent out a link to RSVP to the event, which I did. But you also had to RSVP to get a mini facial, which was limited, I didn't get to RSVP because of course I tried to sign up late and it was SOLD OUT before I had a chance to. When the day came to attend the event I was super excited. I got dressed and made sure that I had not a drop of makeup on so that I could go ahead and test out products without any need to remove anything from my face. When I arrived there (late of course, 5:22pm - the event started at 5pm) were two lines, I decided to go to the shorter line out of the two because I didn't know how things worked, plus I didn't want to wait in such a long line. When I made it close to the entrance there was a lady manning both lines that told me I had to wait in the longer line. I explained to her that I RSVP'd for the event, but she said even if you RSVP you had to stand in line. I was a bit puzzled but I decided to go ahead and get into the longer line. As everyone waited they handed out water and gluten free cupcakes, which helped because it was hot and I started to get a little annoyed. Long story short I finally made it up to the doors again and spoke with the same woman I spoke with in the beginning asking her what does the event entail. She told me that once I get up to the door sign in by finding name on the RSVP list, then you will be directed to get a mini-facial and shop around, after that you have to come back and sign the list to do the other activities but you have to stand outside and wait to be called because we only have a store capacity of about 25-30 people at a time. I told the woman thank you, but I hope she didn't see the look on my face because I was shocked at how poorly planned this event was. I'll get to why I felt it could be planned better, later on in the blog. The woman finally told me that I could go ahead and sign in (after about 5 more minutes of waiting), I make it up to the table to start looking at the list and of course it wasn't in alpha order. So the guy standing at the table didn't know what he was doing, he just told me to sign in on the blank list, to go sit down and have the mini facial! I have the facial. I sit down the consultant tells me to try a few items based on me telling her my skin is a combination of oily and sometimes being dry. She told me about the Checks and Balances face wash and the GinZing line, and I asked her a few questions about dark spots around my face, etc. She gave me the best advice about exfoliation and also doing facial scrubs to get rid of dead skin to clear pores and to get rid of little acne spots I had.

(Tea tree reading from a Tarot reader! Can you spot the bird in my cup?)

After the facial I had the opportunity to do a tea reading, where I drank some of the tea Origins had to offer and a physic read the leaves in the cup where they stuck after drinking the tea. The reading was very interesting I might say. The woman basically told me that  she saw a mythical creature, they are usually mysterious and like to do things such as travel. She told me that I've been sporadically thinking about traveling and that I should go ahead and do it and stop thinking about it. She also said she saw a bird and that it symbolizes flying free and being friendly among others, that my personality is like one or more representative of a butterfly. Carefree, fun and positive my life is going fine, that I shouldn't worry. She also said the bottom of the cup had a lot of tea leaves which were representative of all the thoughts I have, she says to travel and not to worry about everything on my mind. I plan on traveling sometime soon so her reading was pretty simple but very accurate on what I need to do.

Another thing I got to experience before they started shutting things down around 7:30pm (yes, I was at this store for almost 3 hours) was a charcoal caricature drawing. I've had one done of me before but the one the artist was doing at the event was on brown paper and done with a brown color (or charcoal) pencil. Lets just say the guy got my hair right, the caricature looked nothing like me in my opinion but I enjoyed the conversation him and I had about blogging and what I hope to gain by doing Influenster campaigns and attending events. It was very refreshing talking to someone who was interested in what I planned to pursue doing things via social media.

I honestly feel that this event could've been better planned. Not that I'm a planner or anything of that nature but I do have some experience with doing event planning. I could start my own event planning thing but that's not my goal in life, that's not what I was destined to be at all. I don't knock anyone doing that as a hustle because it is truthfully a stressful job but if I had my way, this event would have been planned totally different than it was planned at Disney Springs. There was so much space and opportunity to do so much! First of all, what was the point of RSVP? Majority of the people didn't sign in, there were some bloggers who were invited in front of everyone I guess because they could promote and have their followers come out? But whatever, if it was that high profile then they should have had them RSVP and had everyone else stand in line for everything else. Not only that, they should've had some consultants outside doing hand massages with creams or even offering services outside. All of the facials should've been done inside, the caricatures and tea leaf readings could've been done outside on the opposite side of where everyone was waiting in line to get in. I think goodie bags with more samples should've been given out, and although there was a percentage off of their items they should've explained that before the event because a lot of people walked out empty handed. I myself was appalled at how much everything was because I'm a FRUGALISTA! LOL, I'm super cheap so I'm sticking to my drug store products, Origins is great but I'd have to get a second job to buy their cosmetics.

Well, that was a run down of the event and what I experienced with the Origins voxbox. Thank you guys so much for reading. Hope to see you on the next blogging experience!

Thanks for reading.... Until Next time!!!!
