Wow, it's been an entire year later and “Beat the Runway” is back. OMG it was so much fun all over again, this time around it was a few new faces but a majority of the old faces remembered me, just like I remembered them! The show was in full effect; as usual giving local models a chance to strut their stuff in local designers (some famous designers as well) clothing lines. If you have no idea what Beat the Runway is, last year my definition of it was a fashion show & free concert hosted by 104.5 TheBeat Orlando! This event happens to reach a great cause where locals can donate used clothing to Salvation Army and have fun at the same time!
This is the 3rd Annual Beat the Runway fashion show, the same venue as last year at the Orchid Gardens in downtown Orlando. This time around it was a full house x 5; I swear majority of the room to walk was covered. Next year the venue will have to be bigger to house more people. Again, several musical artists and musicians performed, there was plenty of room for local designers to show off their creations, and vendors to sell their items on the top floor. The food and drinks were delicious, special thanks to Eddie Forbes @forbesbistro for the delicious dishes he prepared!! The backstage for models to dress was ample sized giving hair stylists, make up artists, and musicians to eat and relax....
NYX cosmetics and other sponsors provided gift bags and
goody bags for all attendees. Makeup artists who took their time to beat the
faces of the models walking the runway for the show were also given a bag as a token of appreciation. Florida fashion and music bloggers
were invited to chill in the NYX Professional VIP section, which was a seated
lounge area with complimentary refreshments and Wi-Fi.
Clothing samples came from 6 companies/stylists in total: Salvation Army, Ted Baker, Whence & Whither, Yani B, Ivy Park and Get on Fleek Boutique. All lines were different or unique in their own special way. Some of the items from Salvation Army were surprising to me even being in the collection. You never know what you will find when you are thrifting. Ivy Park by Beyonce, has a simplistic design but can also be stylish when embellished with other accessories like shoes, headbands, etc. Ted Baker is very eloquent in design, it can be pricey but well worth it to have a few items from this line. Get on Fleek Boutique is new to me however, the associates say that it's been around for 2 years. You can get an entire outfit inspired by the Ramen Noodles package, or even a hamburger hoodie. LOL! The other designers had a unique flare as well... All of the styles were fresh and a ton of them were very chic!
The Beat’s on-air personalities DJ D Strong, D Royale, Viva La Koi and Young Scholar hosted the show. As the models made their way down the staircase and up the runway to show their styles off, musical artists that performed. Sevyn Streeter, Kent Jones, Nohemy, Kayla Brianna, and King Cocky to name a few! There was also music played all night by @iamdjmk and 104.5 the Beat 'iheartmedia' radio station.
As always, the backstage part of the show was a huge jungle, but it was done very swiftly and professionally. Team #LAASTYLING with Luis Ayuso, always comes with the sass and flare when called to style models all over! I'm glad I have every opportunity to work with his team, every time we do a show I get the chance to meet new people and as always the support from them motivates me to keep doing what I love in the fashion world.
