Girl Camouflage that Belly

There are so many pros and cons being a plus sized woman! One of our issues happens to be our mid-sections, which we would like to flaunt or show off but unfortunately we weren't blessed in order to strut our stuff with our bellies hanging out! We want to be cute, stay in with the current style but not look like we are squeezing into something too small in order to make us look good. Honestly, this is the issue for a lot of women with or without surgery! We get a muffin top, we have lumps and bumps when wearing form fitting clothing, not only that we may even have extra skin from weight loss or problem areas in our stomach area that we have trouble hiding when wearing clothing on a regular basis... One of my top followers on Instagram @mzrindee took the liberty of emailing me about this issue, I felt like blogging about it will not only help her but will help other women with the same problem area! I'm here to give you tips; Girl, Camouflage that Belly!

These are different ways that I compiled into letting you know how to flaunt your curves with also hiding your tummy! I personally wrote a list down of the things that I can do that could possibly help ladies with this issue. I've listed ways that you can dress yourself in clothing piece categories, hopefully the images help as well:

Shirts

In order to cover or hide your belly wearing shirts is to not wear things that are tight or things that will bring eye contact directly to your mid-section. Wearing blouses or loose button up shirts over your shorts, jeans or skirts will help camouflage your tummy! If you don't wear clingy shirts they will help overshadow this problem area. Also, this is a major one: DO NOT TUCK IN YOUR SHIRT... Not only is it a segway into cutting into areas of your stomach but it will also bring out rolls and cause automatic muffin top!

Types of shirts: Peplum, Blouse (Loose/Flowy),  Rouched, Wrap/Tie Tops, Tunic Tops, Button Up...

Skirts/Pants/Jeans

Try finding bottoms that are high waist! Low cut anything will definitely ruin a look if it's not covered by a belly camouflaging top. Low cut or too tight bottoms cause muffin top! (Muffin Top = Belly over spill) Even if you have to go up a size to create a lose fitting look I suggest you do that. Oppose to wearing something tight and uncomfortable, just wear something loose and sensible! Tight pants will also cause the band area where elastic or the belt loops are located, to cut into your skin or lay on the parts of your stomach where you have rolls. At all costs please wear your size, it's one thing to try to be cute but when you are wearing too little things it's not cute at all!

Types of skirts: Skater, High Waist, Maxi...

Types of pants: Harem, Leggings (Thick),  Palazzo Pants, etc.

Types of jeans/shorts: High Waist, Tummy Control, Loose, Jeggings, etc.

Dresses

Wear dresses that accentuate your waist... Dresses that have a tie are the #1 hit with women with tummy troubles. Tie the dress around your waist, but don't tie it up front as the string will divert eye sight straight to your mid-section. Instead, tie strings on your back to attract attention away from stomach areas. If you don't like wrap dresses you can try dresses with draping/rouching up front. They still accentuate your waist but you won't have to deal with ties! AVOID BODYCON DRESSES if you absolutely do not like your stomach... These dresses are designed to show off every curve, every dimple, everything that you wouldn't want people to see if you are a self conscious woman!
Types of dresses: Maxi (Loose), Wrap/Tie Dresses, Flowy, etc.

There are other alternatives when all else fails, which can help as well! Majority of the time I don't wear garments or anything because I am apart of this whole "show that gut" movement! When I put jeans or shorts on I usually wear them without anything but my usual bra and panties...When you wear undergarments you typically want to wear them without them showing any lines or anything so be cautious about what you wear when you are wearing these concealing items.

Shapewear

Whoever created shapewear was a genius... When I try on something and I want it to look tight and right on my body and also cinch my waist with also tucking my gut, shapewear has been a life saver! There are all kinds: From high waisted undergarments that flatten your inner thighs and outer thighs with lifting your buttocks to bodycon shapewear worn like a dress under your clothing. I got all of my shapewear from Burlington Coat factory, they have an entire section of body cinching shapewear for all different shapes and sizes. I don't remember paying more than $10 for each piece! They might even sell these items at Marshalls, Ross or Walmart but I know Burlington's has them for sure!

Color Blocking/Prints/Patterns

Other ways to hide or camouflage your belly/mid-section would be to wear patterns, dark colors or prints! When you wear florals and polka dots or stripes it will divert the eyes to the pattern and not to your problem areas. Here are a few examples of plus size women showing off their beautiful bodies and masking any type of stomach/belly flaws using the color blocking, patterned or printed looks:

Work Clothing Ideas

With work clothing of course you don't want to wear form fitting items. Try out pant suits, cute skirts with button up blouses, tunics, cardigans, blazers with cute ankle length trousers... There are so many ideas! Just play around with a few items you have in your closet... You can wear all kinds of flats with these looks posted below, heels & accessories definitely spice the look up! Your belly won't look so obvious in work clothing because you will look too professional for anyone to try to look for any flaws in your work wear!

Clubbing Clothing Ideas

Going out to the club we would like to show off every inch and curve that God blessed us with, however it's not a good look when our bellies are spewing all over the place. You can definitely try peplum dresses to camouflage your belly. Remember if you choose to wear a bodycon dress wear the proper shapewear, it will definitely suck in the problem areas and smooth out any bumps, rolls or dips when wearing form fitting clothing! Not only that, you don't always have to wear a dress to the club. A nice pair of shorts or leggings with a very cute or peek-a-boo top is cute as well!

Hey @MzRindee,

I totally hope this helped you out... I want to personally thank you for being the inspiration behind this new post! Let me know if there's anything else that I can help you and other ladies with. Take care and God bless!
