Is the term "BOSSY" that bad?

When I think about the term Bossy... The first thought that comes to my mind is the track that Kelis put out titled "Bossy"... I mean the entire song talks about how she has everything and even put on the man she was dating at the time to these certain things that she had as well... I still like the song which came out in 2006! Besides Kelis the only other individual who has used the term "Bossy" that I can think of is Tionna Smalls. She's been on tons of MTV/VH1 shows but in reality she's a relationship advisor... You can check out her work or hell, if you need relationship advice click here. Back to the topic at hand! When a chick says she's bossy, I don't see it being a negative term! I guess the people who take things very seriously all the time can look at the term as a bad thing. Like "Oh she's bossy, that means she's a bitch!" Nooooo, it means we are strong woman who are out here making it big with or without anyone's help! I think honestly it's messed up when we make something positive something for people to look down on. Not only that, trying to ban being bossy is petty.

So I heard about this Ban Bossy ish the other day... Encouraging women to lead! Ummm... So being bossy isn't being a leader? I'm totally confused. Being bossy is a push for confidence in my eyes... I guess in today's time, being called a bully is equivalent to being called bossy. They are reading too much into it! If you didn't see the campaign I had the liberty of posting it below!

To be honest, banning the word "Bossy" won't change anything... Women will still be leaders regardless of how the term is used! I think the slogan they used could be changed too... If you ask me being Bossy and being a Boss are the same thing! Sheryl Sandberg (whoever she is) I believe is trying to get acclaim on ditching the word bossy but if you look at it, isn't she being bossy by doing this? Banning a word would typically be for terms that degrade people, when did the word bossy become degradable? Like rappers use the term bitch like nobody's business... Do you hear that word being bleeped from shows or banned from records that are released on the daily? Any way, the other thing I noticed was that Girl Scouts backs this campaign as well... A great choice, however I don't understand how it would push little girls (who I'm sure don't use or know what the term bossy is) into thinking they aren't already leaders! The Girl Scout entity in itself teaches leadership so I don't know where they were going with the "Ban Bossy" idea. Honestly, the term shouldn't be banned just to prove that girls can't be leaders... Parents, teachers and leaders should be able to positively tell girls all over the world that they can lead without dumbing themselves down by a term!

“You don’t have to love me / You don’t even have to like me / But you will respect me / You know why? / 'Cause I’m a boss”

I guess associating the term by your own means can make it seem alot better than what other people over analyze it to be. But seriously banning this powerful word is a mess! Do you know how many years women have considered themselves to be bossy? They have worse words to ban and they choose to campaign against "bossy"! SMH. How do you feel about this topic?
